South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center Featured in Metal Architecture Magazine
Thrilled to share that one of our projects has made the cover of the December issue of Metal Architecture Magazine – The South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center! Sunrise completed work on this 650,000-square-foot transportation center in 2018. The development has nine levels, approximately 1,500 parking spaces, and is located partially over the existing I-90 tunnel structure built by the Central Artery and Tunnel Project. The project incorporated sustainable and resilient design elements.
Sunrise’s scope included the furnish and install of: louver fins, curtain wall, storefront, doors, glazing, CW louvers, and ACM.
This project was particularly unique due to the louver fin assemblies (supplied by Metalwërks)— there were 678 of them installed (coated in 12 custom colors)— each engineered with threaded rods and yokes to stabilize against harsh winds and tied back to the building with knife plates and T brackets.
Exciting project for SEI! Check it out below!
