The newest addition to the Brandeis University campus, this 50,000-square-foot residence hall is set to become the greenest and most sustainable facility on the grounds. The new construction includes 164 new dorm rooms, a new upper campus common space, study spaces, and lounge spaces. Sunrise was hired through a design-assist contract to help vet material choices, colors and to aid in value engineering the project back to budget. SEI also aided in the detailing of the different façade elements to help ensure an efficient installation and to help lower costs. At the conclusion of the design-assist phase, project costs were lowered by 6 percent. The full scope of the project included aluminum curtainwall, aluminum vents, composite aluminum panels, framing, insulation, air and vapor barrier, expansion joints, fire stopping, louvers, and interior glass and glazing.
